So many good recs! Adding a lot of books to my TBR thanks to you. As I was reading On the Calculation of Volume (III) I think it reminded me why I love to read so much. How it makes me see the world differently and definetly with more empathy. It also makes me question myself and my relationship to the planet we live in.
I looove this. That's exactly what reading does for me too. It's such a comfort, but it also opens a window onto other lives and experiences, making me reflect on both the world and myself :)
My heart did a little jump when I saw "Light and Thread"! I just can't seem to get enough of Han Kang! It's a great little essay/diary collection albeit too short. I tried taking my sweet time with this over a couple of days, holding myself back from finishing it in one go.
So far my number one is still "Greek Lessons" closely followed by "We Do Not Part". I've still yet to read "Human Acts", "Vegetarian" and "The White Book" although I might be leaving the latter two out. I'm slightly afraid of traumatising myself :D
I'm really looking forward to "Human Acts" since it's your favourite!
I’m with you, I can’t get enough of Han Kang! I think that’s also why I’ve been slowly making my way through her books because once I’ve read them all, I’ll have nothing left. Although she has a couple of books translated into French that I might pick up if she doesn’t announce a new one soon haha
I completely understand your hesitation with The Vegetarian too. I’m slightly scared it will emotionally destroy me, but at the same time, I survived Human Acts and We Do Not Part (barely, I cried multiple times), so we’ll see. The White Book is beautiful though, and thankfully it didn’t make me cry :)
Han Kang, please publish a new book soon, we need more of your writing!
You are in for a treat with The Vegetarian. I enjoyed Land but I found it very heavy on description and poor on intimate characterisation. I felt she was trying to do too much, cover too much ground (pardon the pun) between history, family saga and Irish mythology. I prefer some of her other books. You have a great eclectic list here Amandine.
I’ve been postponing The Vegetarian for so long and I’m not even sure why! Maybe because so many readers love it, and it feels quite different from the other books I’ve read from her. Human Acts is still my favourite, so I think I’m a little scared it won’t live up to that somehow.
And I do agree that Land covers a lot of ground (I loved your pun so I'm reusing it haha) but her writing made it flow so beautifully for me. I’m so curious to read your review!!
Totally fair, no rush at all! Enjoy travelling around your beautiful country, and I’ll also be looking forward to reading your outside my doorstep posts :)

Enjoy The Vegetarian!! and future Hjorth!
Thank you so much! Long Live the Post Horn was available as an audiobook at my library, so that will probably be my next Hjorth. I'm excited :)

It will be in a couple of weeks or so. We are doing some traveling in Ireland next week first.
